Made by Allergan Pharmaceuticals, Juvederm is a non-permanent facial filler that contains hyaluronic acid and is currently the number one filler in all of North America. Hyaluronic acid is a natural substance found in all living species and it’s already present in our bodies. This clear gel attracts and holds water and it depletes over time, resulting in thinning of the skin, a sunken appearance and wrinkles. When it is injected into the skin, it creates a more youthful, fresh appearance.

Treatments range from 15 to 45 minutes depending on the number of areas and syringes. Sometimes we apply ice for 5-10 minutes following your treatment in order to limit the appearance of bruising or swelling.

Given the fact that fillers consists of 99% hyaluronic acid (which is a natural substance we already have in our bodies) and a small amount of preservatives and lidocaine (which is an anaesthetic) it is nearly impossible to react badly to it. With an experienced injector, side effects are minimal. You may experience slight bruising and swelling and the complication rate is very low. But, an improper injection can cause harmful and even permanent complications making it vitally important for you to choose your injector wisely. Usually, the minor bruising and swelling can be easily covered with makeup and you can return to your daily routine immediately. We also provide you with a “do not” list of things to avoid following your treatment in order to minimize and even eliminate the chance of any unwanted side effects.
For sterility reasons, you must purchase cosmetic fillers in 1.0 ml syringes that must only be used on you. Whatever isn’t used after your first visit is stored away for future use. Depending on the formulation, each syringe costs anywhere from $350 to $750. When you opt for fillers, you have the liberty of spreading your treatments and treating multiple areas.
This depends on a number of factors including previous treatments, the area injected and how many syringes are used. Some areas may last up to 18 months, while others only 6 to 9.
